This week we love: Ideas Have Legs, Works That Work and Useful Photography 11

September 25, 2013

To celebrate that we have more than 500 titles in our bookstore, we are launching this section in which we will highlight our favorite books and magazines of each week. If you don't have enough and if language is not a barrier for you, you can check our recommendations of digital books and magazines published in Spanish

Ideas Have Legs, Fuel Publishing

The poems, stories and words of writer Ian McMillan start to walk hand in hand with the graphic universe of illustrator and imagemaker Andy Martin in this wonderful digital book, "a mixture of the wry and the poignant rendered with the eye of a magpie". An open door to the wonders of words and images published by London-based design studio Fuel, to whom we want to give a warm welcome to our bookstore.

Works That Work

The second issue of the digital magazine Works That Work published by the type foundry and design studio Typotheque avoids being categorized once again. It features projects that aim to reduce the noise pollution produced by an airport, artefacts that fly, tunnels under the Alps or an international competition in which the chefs' smuggling techniques are as relevant as their culinary skills. For those who still need a definition, one could say that this magazine is a set of "design-related stories that would make for interesting discussion with friends over dinner".

Useful Photography #11, KesselsKramer Publishing

The latest addition to the famous collection of KesselsKramer Useful Photography, dedicated to the most pragmatic side of this practice, has arrived to visualMANIAC. A collection of images of human targets at shooting ranges in the United States invites us to think about the most lethal side of photography and its intimate relationship with death from a practical and cold-blodded point of view.
