VISUALMANIAC at F I E B R E Photobook Fair

By Teresa de Andrés. December 12, 2013

Cities are filled with Christmas markets this weekend. Independent designers and local businesses play a leading role in a time marked by gifts, indigestions and cold (hey, this is only true in our part of the world: we shouldn't forget that there are tropical Decembers too). To join the tradition this Saturday 14th we'll take part in F I E B R E – F E V E R, in that strange language called Spanish – a new photobook fair where we'll see each other faces and shout from the rooftops that the sale of digital books and magazines doesn't need to be synonymous with tech giants. Our photography section is growing little by little and it includes projects by Erik Kessels and Joachim Schmid (only available in our bookstore) or theory books by Joan Fontcuberta and John Berger. We are also lucky enough to offer for free the two BlankPaper annuals in digital format and some self-published photobooks like Come Home by Adrián Zorzano or Así duele un verano by Raul Hernandez (BlackMountain).

We'll be in at BlankPaper this Saturday with the publishers Veinticuatro Editions, Cabeza de Chorlito, Pierre Von Kleist, Ca l'Isidret Edicions, Fracaso Books y Phree and the bookstores Ivorypress and Dalpine. What's even more, at F I E B R E there is also space for the personal projects and self-published books of the photographers Gustavo Alemán, Olmo González, Alberto Feijéo, Marie Sommer, Beatriz García Prieto and Ricardo Garrido. From 16:00 to 19:00, a panel around mock-ups and express presentations of publishers and from 19:00 to 23:00, the fair and book signing. At the heart of Malasaña, calle Nao, 4, 3º, M A D R I D.

Did you know that there are also small and independent projects on the Internet? This Christmas, buy your gifts at local businesses. If you buy books, even better.
